Ukraine struck a port and oil terminal in Russia's St Petersburg region in what officials and multiple news agencies described as a major drone attack, hitting oil and military facilities near one of Russia's most strategically and symbolically important cities. The scale and reach of the operation mark a significant escalation in Ukraine's long-range strike campaign.

Russian officials confirmed the attack, acknowledging hits on infrastructure in the St Petersburg region. Ukraine has been steadily expanding the geographic scope of its drone offensives, targeting oil refineries, fuel depots and military logistics nodes deep inside Russian territory in a bid to degrade Moscow's war economy and sustain political pressure domestically.
